Job Summary: The assembler will work as part of a team to assemble components, sub-components and to test and ship hydraulic excavators into a final product.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follows detailed work instructions to complete steps to the assembly process.
  • Mounts and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment; fits parts, hoses, and tubing together.
  • Assures and maintains specified torque and tension by proper setting of torque wrenches.
  • Checks incoming parts and outgoing assembly for deformation or scratches, and reports non-conforming parts/product to supervision.
  • Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders, to produce close fits between parts.
  • Inspects work to insure proper assembly of all components.
  • Assists in rework, as necessary.
  • Actively participates in process improvement activities (safety, quality, productivity).
  • Works as a team member and co-operates with co-workers.
  • Operates overhead cranes or Jib cranes safely in order to move and set large parts to machine or fixture.
  • Keeps work station/area clean and free from safety hazards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma (or GED).
  • 2+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have an intermediate proficiency (Basic skills / knowledge with capability of functioning independently) in reading blueprints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

  • Physical demands of the job include: stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting (up to 40 pounds), grasping, hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, prolonged standing, fingering and climbing; Also working in a plant environment with varying temperatures.
