Job Summary: The welder will work as part of a team to weld components of our hydraulic excavator into a final product.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operates manual MIG weld machines.
  • Must be able to inspect own work including quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gauges and other measuring tools.
  • Operate CNC machine for special attachment parts.
  • Use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs to position heavy fabricated metal components in weld fixtures.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on weld machines (wire change, tip/nozzle change).
  • Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations to create and machine components.
  • Follows and utilizes principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
  • Actively participates in process improvement activities (safety, quality and productivity).
  • Keeps work station/area clean and free from safety hazards.
  • Works as a team member and co-operates with co-workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to work in a highly structured environment, strictly adhering to provided standard work instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma (or GED).
  • 2+ years of MIG (GMAW) welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have an intermediate proficiency (Basic skills / knowledge with capability of functioning independently) in reading blueprints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

  • Physical demands of the job include: stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting (up to 40 pounds), grasping, hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, prolonged standing, fingering and climbing; Also working in a plant environment with varying temperatures.
